I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask but what is the safest way to disable an eSim adaptor (5ber, 9esim etc) when using Android 13?
According to esim.me:
"On Android 13, disabling the SIM Slot that holds the eSIM.me Card, will render the currently active eSIM profile unavailable!
If for any reason you must disable the SIM Slot that holds the eSIM.me Card,
first disable the active eSIM Profile in the eSIM.me APP and only then disable the SIM Slot."
And there is a discussion about it on XDA
https://xdaforums.com/t/guide-root-fix-re-enable-disabled-esim-me-card-when-no-sim-card-is-detected-may-work-for-all-sim-cards.4548895/#post-88091389
From what I understand this issue will effect all eSim adaptors so I expect my 5ber & 9esim cards to have the same issue. The eSIM.me instructions say you should disable in the app first but EasyEUICC says "doing so may sometimes render it inaccessible" so how do I do it safely?
I basically just want to turn off the eSim completely while leaving the other sim card active.
Thanks
JD
Why you want dissable a SIM slot where you insert an euicc esim card? U only switch esim profile with app. Yes esim.me only has problem on android 13. but i never deactivate an SIM slot as i said for what reason?
For all the normal reasons you would only want one active sim! So that I don't receive calls or SMS's & they are not shown as "delivered" for the sim I don't want to be active.
Standby battery life improved by 30%
This is not an OpenEUICC issue, but
No, it doesn't affect all eSIM adapters. If they don't advertise themselves as eUICC in their ATR, they aren't affected by this bug.
eSIM.me does use an eUICC ATR. Latest batches of eSTK don't. I have no clue about others.
The reason EasyEUICC warns you about disabling the last profile is that some phones can't recognize cards without a profile enabled. Unfortunately I don't have a resolution for you here if both of these are a concern for you.
